Celebrating Independence Day
Happy Birthday, America!
To live in America is to enjoy some very unique blessings in terms of standard of living and opportunity. Sure, many people who read that statement will immediately point out America's flaws, reminding us that things aren't perfect here - but they're not perfect anywhere else either. It is as important to recognize and appreciate our positives as it is to recognize and strive to remedy our negatives, is it not?
In no other place and at no other time in human history have so many lived so well and had access to so much. I believe we sometimes allow ourselves to forget our good fortune far too easily, which is something that we must be ever-vigilant against.
You and I are fortunate enough to live in a place that offers tremendous potential to anyone willing to exhibit some hustle and intelligence. Let's all promise each other not to ever take that for granted.
